Washington, D.C. – The National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHOCA) is proud to announce our virtual Latino Empowerment Campaign that we will be conducting throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. This campaign seeks to empower Hispanics/Latinos by shining a light on the lives and achievements of our community members.

Latinos possess a rich, deep culture, and have made contributions to the United States through music, medicine, art, science, literature, and numerous other fields; NHCOA aims to celebrate these powerful figures whose efforts often go unsung by American society.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, NHCOA will feature the stories of Latinos who served as frontline and essential workers amid the pandemic, as well as those who made strides in the arts and sciences during this tumultuous period. Their strength, resilience, and willingness to help others during dark times illustrate the excellence that Latino/Hispanic communities possess. These stories will be shared via NHCOA’s website, social media platforms, and media partners.

We are delighted to continue to shine a light on luminaries creating positive change in our society. We are grateful and proud for all the amazing contributions many in our communities make to improve the lives of people”, says Dr. Yanira Cruz, President and CEO of NHCOA.
